Lomi Lomi

Lomi Lomi is one of the oldest and most powerful forms of healing derived from the ancient Polynesians. This massage technique belongs to Hawaii. The word Lomi Lomi it self means massage. Lomi Lomi is based on Hawaiian philosophy called Huna, related to body work and healing. The philosophy states that a belief can block as much energy as a muscle tension can block. Alternate name for Lomi Lomi massage is “Loving Hands” massage because it works gently but deeply with flowing strokes on the client’s body. This massage technique not only heals at physical level but also at mental, emotional and spiritual level. This massage technique releases the blockages, at the same time giving new direction to the energy
The Hawaiians believe that when healing is affects on one level, all levels are affected because they view all aspects of the body as one and believe that the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual are all part of the whole self.
During a Lomi Lomi session the practitioner lays his hands gently on the client’s back. At this time there is stillness between the practitioner and the client and the practitioner will say a prayer asking that all the healing take place during the massage or he may ask the client if he want any healing.  The therapist touches the client body with full respect, compassion and love. There is no pre set sequence or format for Lomi Lomi therefore two massages will hardly be identical. The masseuse may massage different body parts simultaneously. A client may opt to take the massage with or without clothing. Dance work or hula movements, combined with the practitioner’s breathe work integral aspects of Lomi Lomi. The therapist performs hula movements not because it looks cute, because it assists the energy flow and keeps energy level high within both the therapist and the client.
The major difference between Lomi Lomi and other massages is that in Lomi Lomi the client lay directly on the massage table and not on a towel, and most of the body of the client is exposed, making it easier for the therapist to perform the underbody and full body strokes without interrupting the flow of the massage.
Lomi Lomi may be performed by one or more therapist simultaneously on the same client this takes the client to the deeper level of relaxation.
